Ein weiterer Milestone unserer Projektarbeit ist erreicht. Gestern hatten wir unsere Vorpräsentation, oder auch Generalprobe, über unsere Vorbereitungen zur Study Week in Edinburgh. Wir haben noch viele Ideen von den Präsentationen unserer Mitstudierenden sammeln können, aber haben ausserdem noch einiges an Feedback und Anregungen von den Studenten selbst und unserem Professor Walter Burk bekommen. Mit neuem Schwung geht es jetzt also noch an ein paar Verbesserungen und dann sind wir für die Präsentation im Mai richtig gut vorbereitet.

Ausserdem haben wir unseren Mittwoch in Edinbugh fast ausgeplant. Morgens um 11:00 Uhr geht es los mit einer Stadtführung durch das mystische Edinburgh. New Europe Edinburgh Tours wird die Führung natürlich genau auf unsere Wünsche ausrichten und wir werden eintauchen in Edinburghs gespenstische Geschichte, Geisterhäuser erkunden und natürliche auch etwas über typisch schottische Traditionen erfahren. Von den Geschichten ist natürlich nichts gelogen, denn Edinburgh ist ja bekannt für die Hexenverbrennungen, seine Grabjäger und misteriösen Morde.

Um 18:00 Uhr geht es dann in eine Dudelsack Werkstatt, denn wer ein echter Schotte sein will, der muss wissen wie man Dudelsäcke baut und auch spielt. Wir werden also auf einen sehr musikalischen Abend hinblicken. Aber wusstet ihr, dass die Sackpfeife vermutlich aus Indien stammt? Jedoch hat der Dudelsack in Schottland eine ganz besodere Tradition als Hofinstrument. Er überlebte als Mililtärinstrument und wurde so weltweit bekannt. Heute wird der Dudelsack von vielen als schottisches Nationalinstrument gesehen.

We reached another milestone of our project assignment. Yesterday we had our pre-presentation, or rehearsal, about our preparation of the Study Week in Edinburgh. We collected many ideas from other student's presentations but also got some feedback and suggestions from our colleagues and from our professor Walter Burk. So, with a new kick we will improve our presentation in order to be well prepared in May.

Furthermore, our agenda for Wednesday is almost fully planned. In the morning at 11:00 am we will start with a guided tour through the mystic Edinburgh. Of course, New Europe Edinburgh Tours will adapt this tour to our wishes and thus we will submerge in Edinburgh's eldritch history, explore haunted houses and we will find out more about typical Scottish traditions. All the stories told will be true as Edinburgh is well known for its witch burning, grave robbing and mysterious murders.

At 18:00 pm we will have an appointment at a bagpipe factory, because to be a real Scott one needs to know how bagpipes are produced and also how to play them. So we are looking forward to an evening full of music. But did you know that the bagpipes might have its origin in India? However, bagpipes have a long tradition as the instrument of the royal court. They survived as a military instrument and thus got known worldwide. Today they are said to be the Scottish national instrument.

Unsere Terminplanung und Kontaktaufnahme mit schottischen Tourismus Organisationen und Betrieben läuft auf Hochtouren. Viele Emails bleiben unbeantwortet, einige sagens uns ab, aber jetzt haben wir endlich unsere erste Zusage bekommen. Ein Treffen mit The Scotch Whisky Experience wird ein feucht-fröhlicher Punkt auf unserer Agenda sein und sicherlich ein schmackhafter Spass für uns werden. Die Whisky Führung ist schon für uns gebucht, jetzt muss nur noch ein genauer Termin für ein Gespräch vereinbart werden damit wir einen noch tieferen Einblick in die Welt des Whiskys und des Whiskytourismuses bekommen.
Es ist bis heute nicht sicher, ob die Schotten oder die Iren die Erfinder des Whiskys sind. Einer Legende nach waren es die Kelten, welche als erstes das aqua vitae destillierten. Oder ist es sogar eine noch ältere Technik? Wir sind also einem grossen Mysterium auf der Spur.

Our timescheduling and contacting with Scottish tourism organisations and businesses are running on full speed. Many emails stay unanswered, some already rejected us, but now we finally have the first confirmation. A meeting with The Scotch Whisky Experience will be a tipsy appointment on our agenda and will surely be flavourful fun for us. The whisky tour is already booked, now we only need to set an hour for a business meeting where we plan to get an even closer look into the whisky-world and whisky tourism.
It can't be said with certainty whether the Scottish or the Irish were the inventors of whisky. According to a legend, the Celts were the first to distill the aqua vitae. Or is it yet an even older technique? We are tracing a real mystery.
